Why Solo Travel Is More Fun Than People Think

Why Solo Travel Is More Fun Than People Think

Whilst solo travel may not be for everyone, it’s definitely one of those things that you have to experience to know for sure if it’s for you or not. Some people, understandably so are quite afraid of traveling on their own – especially to another country where the language and culture is something they may be unfamiliar with. However, in life these are the things that push us outside of our comfort zones and really help us to grow.

If you’ve been toying with the idea of taking a solo trip, but just haven’t worked up the courage, then in this post, we’re going to share with you some of the reasons solo travel is more fun than you probably think, and why it’s something that will change you forever – for the better.

You’ll meet incredible people:

Many people think that traveling solo means they have to be on their own constantly, but this isn’t the case at all. Solo travelers actually love to meet up with other solo travelers, and in fact there are entire websites and Facebook groups dedicated to helping solo travelers from around the world connect with each other on their different trips. Solo travelers understand each other in ways that others don’t understand them, and so whilst they want to get together sometimes, they completely understand the need for freedom and independence to do their own thing. If you want to connect with other solo travelers, then your best bet is to join things like groups such as social media groups before your trip, but also to stay at hostels, and to join things like group tours and free walking tours.

You’ll have experiences you won’t forget:

The experiences you’ll have as a solo traveler are going to be like no other. Whether you’re on your own or joining group tours, you’re going to benefit from so many different experiences that you perhaps wouldn’t get to enjoy if you were traveling with friends, family, or a partner.

You have complete freedom:

When you travel solo, you have the complete freedom to do exactly as you please at all times. This includes where you eat, which kinds of places you visit, and also whether you decide to go on things like ReefFree Tours. If you were traveling with friends or a partner, then you’d perhaps have to compromise on things like this, but when traveling solo, then no such compromises have to be made, which is a great sense of freedom.

You’ll gain so much confidence in yourself:

Confidence is built by pushing yourself outside of your comfort zones and doing things that you didn’t think you’d be able to – and there’s little else that’s going to push you outside of your comfort zone than traveling solo, so if you’re looking to build your confidence in any regard, then solo travel is definitely a great way to do this. Not only does solo travel push your comfort zone, but it allows you to see what you’re actually capable of.
