I find that having a bucket list is a great way to think about your next adventure and inspire you to try new things. There are some things that everyone should get to do in their time, big bucket list adventures that will really enrich your lie – a safari for example. Don’t believe me? Here are five reasons everyone needs to go on a safari before they die.

See something amazing

There are so many incredible things to see on a safari, depending on when and where you go. The Big Five are the most popular animals people want to see – lions, leopards, Cape buffalo, rhinos and elephants.

However, there are plenty of other incredible sights to keep your eyes peeled for! For example, the Great Migration is a breathtaking spectacle where over a million wildebeest, gazelle, and zebra make a round trip from the Serengeti in Tanzania to Kenya’s Masai Mara National Reserve.

These animals might not be around forever

Sadly, a lot of animals in Africa are endangered, from the African elephant to the cheetah and the black rhino, due to poaching and loss of their habitats. This means that if you don’t see them now, there’s a chance that you will never be able to. Some of these animals will become extinct in the next decade and all we will have to remember them is pictures and our memories. So, make the effort now, before it’s too late.

Giving back

The good news is that a lot of work is being done on the conservation and protection of these animals, and at least some of the money for this comes from entrance fees to safari parks. This means that when you pay to go into a park for a game drive, you’re helping to fund important conservation for the animals that you are getting to see – it’s a fantastic way to give back and, unlike a lot of animal tourism, you’re paying into a system that help the animals, rather than hurts them. If you really want to give back further, have you ever considered looking at any temporary veterinarian jobs or rescue centre volunteering? There’s no better feeling than knowing you are making a positive impact.

Expert knowledge

You can learn a lot from the internet, or books, but there is nothing like being able to ask a real expert guide about the animals that are right in front of you. Your guide will
be able to track an animal using their dung and explain the difference between plans you see on the journey. They will know exactly where is best to see which animals
and can help you get the perfect pictures.

A customisable experience

A safari holiday can be whatever experience you want. You can choose to sleep beneath the stars and cook on a campfire before a day of game spotting on the back of a jeep or by foot. Or you can go the luxury route with an opulent lodge, cooked meals, and a private pool, and then head out of see the animals on a boat or even a hot air balloon! The experience is customisable and a once-in-a-lifetime adventure.

If you go on a safari, you won’t regret it! You’ll return with incredible stories and images, as well as an intense love and appreciation for animals and the area. In fact,
some people say that safaris are addictive, so there is a chance that as soon as you are home you will be wanting to book your next safari adventure!
